Illegal clothing donation bins are springing up across the city at an alarming rate. While the Department of Sanitation tagged about 600 illicit bins in 2013, the agency tagged just over 2,000 in 2014.

One typical bright pink bin – pervasive on street corners in our district - have markings that make the bins appear legitimate.


However, the donated goods are often sold by businesses for profit.

So what can we do to remove these illegal donation bins from our district?

I am launching a crowd-sourced effort to BAN THE BINS, which will allow residents to map the location of the illicit bins in their communities. With your help, we can accelerate their removal and get rid of these eyesores once and for all.
